Highfields Got Talent

Talented youngsters are set to take centre stage at a local anti drugs and crime event organized by Leicestershire and Rutland Crimestoppers.

 

‘Highfield’s Got Talent’, which is set to take place on Saturday 22 September, will see a number of 13-19-year-olds battle it out to win the star prize of an iPad3.

 

Categories for the competition include Dance, MC, Poetry or Spoken Word, Art, Singing and Other. Each category winner will receive £200 worth of vouchers.

 

The event is supported by Anand International Ltd, Daewoo International (Europe) and Pukaar News.

 

Speaking about the event, Pukaar News Managing Editor Romail Gulzar said: “This is a great opportunity for youngsters to showcase their creative talent by getting involved in a good cause.”

 

Leicester South MP Jon Ashworth who will be at the event, said: “I can’t wait for Highfields Got Talent. I know that local youngsters are bursting with energy, creativity and ideas. This is a brilliant event to showcase our fantastic young people and support Crimestoppers at the same time. It’s going to be a brilliant and memorable day.”

 

Crimestoppers Senior Regional Manager Sue Langley said: “I am looking forward to seeing some exciting talent from young people in the area and hearing about their views on how drugs and crime affect them and their community.”

Lord Mayor of Leicester Councillor Abdul Osman will also be in attendance and will present prizes to the winners.

 

The free event will be running from 12-4pm at the Phoenix Square, Midland Street, Leicester. Light refreshments will also be available on the day.
