Leicester-based businessman Vic Sethi was on set at the Deol family’s latest production Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, to wish newcomer Kristina Akheeva the best of luck for her first day of shoot.
Born in Russia, Kristina migrated to Australia at age of seven. While her modelling career kicked off in Australia, she has been snapped up for a number of assignments in Singapore, India, Philippines, China, Korea and Thailand. The international model was happy to snap a picture with the businessman as she began shooting in Leicester.
Mr Sethi, who cannot reveal too much about the contents of the scene, said: “She was shooting with Bobby Deol and after speaking to her, I’m sure she is a star in the making.”
The businessman is working closely with the Deol family on their forthcoming production as his relationship with the them goes way back. His father-in-law Mr Anand, who sadly died three-years ago, was very close to Dharmendra.
“While on his death bed, he (Mr Anand) asked me to call Sunny, who had just landed at Heathrow airport, so he could meet him. Of course Sunny is a big Bollywood star and I did not expect him to come. But regardless, I still called him up. Sunny immediately said ‘I’m going to rent a car and am coming to see you’,” said Mr Sethi.
“Since then we became good friends an I owe him so much after his kind action that day.”
Not only is Mr Sethi a big Bollywood fan, but he is also determined to put Leicester on the map. He added: “I travel back and fourth on business trips and I find that people are always aware of other cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester, but not so much Leicester. I want to put it on the map and Bollywood is a great way to do this because of the huge fan following it has.
“All I will say is watch this space an come March next year, so many Leicester people will get the opportunity to see themselves on the big screen.”
