Leicester Visited by Top Indian Business Delegates

India’s Institute of Directors visited Leicester today to hear from the cities business community about links with India.  The University of Leicester played host to the (IOD) Global Convention which took place in London from 28 – 30 October and finishing in Leicester on Friday 31.

 

 

As part of the convention on Corporate Governance and Sustainability, IOD delegates travelled to the University of Leicester to hear from University experts as well as from the city and region’s business communities.

 

The delegates were addressed by President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester Professor Paul Boyle and Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor International Professor Martin Halliwell.

 

The day started at the University of Leicester’s hotel and conference centre, College Court, and then went via coach along the Golden Mile and ended up at the National Space Centre for a session on high tech industry, space science and business. This included talks on MIRA technology park enterprise zone, engineering and high-tech industry and the Space Catapult Project.

 

University of Leicester experts across a wide spectrum of research, business and governance spoke about the focus on research, enterprise and business development; professional development; management strategy, and board room structures.

 

Members of the Asian business community also highlighted links between India, business and the Midlands, the food and drinks supplier chain and a case study of the Axis Group India.

 

Professor Halliwell said: “The University of Leicester is very proud to host the Institute of Directors, India.  The University, as well as the city, has strong historical, cultural and commercial links with India and this high-profile visit is a testament to the value that directors of Indian institutions place on our connections.  This visit is an important opportunity to cement our ties and foster new links with this increasingly important market for higher education and business.”
