A global Thai boxing star from Melton, is set to showcase her skills at an upcoming World Title fight in Leicester – the first time she has actually fought in the city.
Iman Barlow will face off against Germany’s Athenea Flores on December 3, for an exciting World Title fight taking place at Leicester’s Maher Community Centre.
It will be the first time that Iman has actually fought in the city, and three years since she’s fought anywhere in the area, due to her amazing success in the sport.
The 29-year-old, took gold in this summer’s 2022 World Games, and regularly takes part in fights across the world.
“I’ve not fought in my area for three years because I signed a big contract which means that I fight abroad mainly, mostly in Singapore,” she told the Leicester Times.
“But I’m excited to be fighting in front of family, friends and the whole team really at this event.
“Some people come from all over the country as well, and knowing that they’ve come all that way and bought a ticket to come and see you it means a lot, because you work so hard,” she added.
“I’ve dedicated my life to this sport, so it’s nice when people come and support you.”
Iman estimates that there will be between 4-600 people at the event, which is being organised by Muay Thai Addict Promotions.
The event will bring together many of the best Thai Boxers from across Europe.
Asked how she feels about her competitor, Athenea Flores, Iman said: “I think she’s good and she can be quite dangerous as well so it’ll be exciting.
“I met her back in July at the world Games in America, so it’s all friendly – until we fight obviously!”
