The British Asian, actress, singer and television host Sophiya Haque has reportedly passed away. She was well known for her roles in theatre productions such as ‘Bombay Dreams’ and ‘The Far Pavilions’, as well ‘Gandhi and Coconuts’ which came to Curve, Leicester in 2011 and ‘Wah Wah Girls’ in 2012. She also starred in ‘Coronation Street’ as ‘Poppy’ in 2008 and appeared with Denise Van Outen in the BBC’s ‘Fairy Tales’ series.
News of her passing spread fast over social media networks today, with many who knew her expressing their shock over her passing and their condolences over Twitter.
