Leicester’s biggest talent show is back this Saturday and ready to give local performers a platform to showcase their singing, dancing and MC skills.
The annual Leicester’s Got Talent show, which is now in its third year, will be held on Saturday 29th November 2014 at The Y Theatre from 11am-4pm.
This year is expected to be bigger and better than before, as this year’s winners will be presented with the golden opportunity to audition for one of Britain’s biggest television talent shows ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
Due to huge demand, the competition which was open to participants aged 16 to 25, extended its entry application to those aged 13 to 25, offering a wider age range for talented individuals, duos and groups to perform on one stage.
This year’s participants Lydia Unsudimi, 19 and Michael Jarvis, 21 will be sharing their singing talent on stage, “We would like to thank LGT 2014 for giving us an opportunity to share our talent and for building our confidence”.
The winning prize up for grabs this year is an iPad and each of the three categories – Singing, dancing and MC – will also have its own champions who will walk away with £200 worth of vouchers.
Simon Cole, Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police will be opening the show at 11am with an inspiring panel of judges, including Kamlesh Purohit from BBC Radio Leicester. The competition will celebrate local youngsters, who will be battling it out to be crowned the winner of Leicester’s Got Talent 2014.
“I’m delighted to open this event celebrating the very best of what Leicester has to offer. Crimestoppers are an important ally helping communities and the police tackle crime together. This event puts their work, as well the city’s talented young people, in the spotlight” shared Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police, Simon Cole.
Organised by Pukaar News and Anand & Daewoo International, LGT 2014 is being put on in partnership with the independent charity Crimestoppers and Leicestershire Police.
Romail Gulzar, the Event Organiser, commented: “This year we have Britain’s Got Talent on board, offering the winners of this year’s talent show, the golden opportunity to audition. We are excited to see a variety of local youngsters and I am excited to see all the performances on the day”.
Kiran Dhanda, Crimestoppers’ East Midlands Regional Manager, said “We are proud that the charity is associated with such an event that gives local performers the opportunity to share their talent. It will be exciting for us to see proud family members and friends in the audience, showing their support. This show offers a real sense of community spirit and we hope that it will raise awareness for Crimestoppers, as we look to encourage people to report crime to us without having to reveal their identity”.
