An explosion in Birstall has left two houses collapsed, with cars and between 30-50 houses damaged following the blast that happened at 07:30 this morning.
Two people were taken to hospital by air ambulance with “significant” injuries, whilst one other person escaped with just minor injuries.
Matt Cane, Group Manager at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, said:
“At this stage, we are not entirely sure what caused the explosion but we’re working with the police and one of our investigators.
“Initially people reported it as a gas leak, but we haven’t been able to confirm that”.
