FORENSICS have been searching a field close to the village of Miserton, following a serious sexual assault in the area.
The attack is alleged to have taken place off junction 20 of the M1 at Lutterworth, close to the community of Miserton last Sunday morning (January 16).
It is said to have taken place in the early hours, between 4 and 5am and police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
Earlier this week forensic and tactical support teams were seen to be examining a field in the area near to Miserton’s St Leonards Church.
Following initial inquiries, four men were arrested in connection with the incident.
“Detectives are investigating an incident whereby a woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Misterton,” confirmed a spokesman for Leicestershire Police.
“Three men aged 28, 25 and 22 from Leicester remain in custody at this time.
“One man aged 27, from Leicester, was released with no further action.”
He said officers remain in the area “carrying out further inquiries”.
