Hundreds of young people are coming together in Leicester to celebrate the birthday of Hindu deity Lord Ram.
Youth association Ramdoot Seva Sangh, Shree Sanatan Mandir Temple and the Shree Hanuman Temple are uniting for this special event tomorrow (Wednesday, April 17) where the community will take part in prayers, bhajan and joyful festivities.
“This is an opportunity to foster harmony and understanding within the community where everyone can come together to celebrate the values of love, compassion and unity that Lord Ram embodies,” said Rajesh Patel, Secretary of Shree Hanuman Temple.
“This event is not just about celebrating a religious figure; it’s about coming together as a community to reaffirm our commitment to peace and harmony.
“The festivities will include prayers led by esteemed spiritual leaders, bhajans filled with devotional music, Hanuman Chalisa and Aarti.
“We believe that events like these play a crucial role in promoting understanding and fostering a sense of belonging within our diverse community.
“Through prayers, music, and joyful celebrations, we hope to create lasting bonds of friendship and goodwill among all who attend.”
The saintly character of Lord Rama continues to inspire millions of people worldwide through his story and teachings. Many Hindus worship him as a symbol of divine love and devotion, considering him an ideal human being who is often portrayed as ‘Maryada Purushottam,’ which means the perfect man.
Tomorrow’s event is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds who wish to participate in the celebrations and takes place between 10.30am and 7.00pm.
The morning activities will take place at the Shree Hanuman Temple on Melton Road continuing in the afternoon at Shree Sanatan Mandir Temple on Weymouth Street.
