A dental nurse from Leicestershire has been recognised for her commitment to the profession which she loves, at London’s Private Dentistry Awards.
Emilia Forrester, was named ‘Best Dental Nurse North’, at the prestigious awards, which were held on November 4.
It’s an honour which left her “completely shocked and speechless, but at the same time over the moon and very happy,” she told Pukaar.
Ms Forrester, 36, has been a nurse at Thurmaston Dental Practice for the past 18 months. However, she has been in the profession for around 16 years since moving to the UK from Poland back in 2005.
It was something she fell into “almost accidentally,” she revealed. However, she quickly “fell in love” with the profession, which she is committed to.
“I love patients, I am very much a people person, and just seeing the confidence level rise in people and how they grow is the best part of the job,” she said.
“People come to us for different reasons – they might come to us because they are in pain, or they might come to us because they want to have their teeth straightened.
“When we first see them, I often see people covering their mouth, and then when they leave us, they’re happy – they’re smiling and they’re just so appreciative,” she added.
Ms Forrester also credits the support of her “amazing” colleagues at Thurmaston Dental Practice for her award-winning success.
“Working with amazing people all around me makes a massive difference,” she added.
“If I was working with people who were not driven, miserable and haven’t got a positive mental attitude, I probably wouldn’t be the person who I am now.
“I’m happy and driven and love what I do.”
During the awards, Thurmaston Dental Practice were nominated in five categories. They were announced as runners up in the ‘Best Team’ category.
At the moment the practice is taking part in ‘Mission Christmas’ with Gem106.
The team is joining Queniborough Santa Tour to collect toys for Cash For Kids – a charity whose mission is for every child to wake up to a present on Christmas Day.
