For the second consecutive year Leicester mother and daughter duo Diane Wildbur and Jenna will run the London Marathon in April.
Diane, 60, lecturer at De Montfort University and Jenna, 35, hairdresser, will be running to fund-raise for the Leicestershire and Rutland Carers Centre.
Last year the pair raised approximately £1,500 for the Centre but their aim this year is to double that.
The Carers Centre is a Leicestershire based charity which is dedicated to supporting over 105,000 family carers within our community.
The charity offers a range of free services which help both practically and emotionally for these carers and, no matter how big or small of an impact, this support can make a huge difference to those that may be struggling to cope with critically ill or disabled loved ones.
These free services include advocacy, training, information, respite signposting and support groups.
One programme that the Centre runs is named Caring with Confidence which is a highly effective course designed to improve a carer’s ability to manage, sustain, self advocate and have a more profound knowledge of locally provided support and how to access it.
Such programmes and free services are essential within the caring community as they offer the support these wonderful people need in order for them to improve the quality of their own life as well as that of the person they care for.
Mother and daughter have organised a couple of events to assist in raising their £3,000 target mark:
On Tuesday March 22 they will be running a fashion show at Leicester Road Football Club, Hinckley, the event will start at 7:30pm and tickets can be purchased for £5 pp. Cake, tombola and a raffle will also be happening during the evening!
On Saturday April 16 at Braunstone Park there is the opportunity to compete in the Braunstone Parkrun at 9am. Di and Jenna are looking for teams to enter as a fundraiser for the Centre whilst adding that competitive factor!
Diane and Jenna would be extremely grateful for anyone who can make as big or as small donation to help support the continuing marvellous work of our Leicestershire and Rutland Carers Centre.
