From the 16th-18th June 2017, the Great Central Railway in Leicestershire will host one of the country’s largest model railway shows.
Over the three days, more than seventy model railway layouts of all shapes and sizes will be showcased under forty thousand square feet of marquees.
Visitors will be able to travel on full size heritage trains between themed exhibition areas at stations. Loughborough will have live steam model locos and Railwayana traders and Rothely will have a display by model engineers as well as the GCR’s resident garden railway.
Quorn and Woodhouse station will have a huge marquee with dozens of railway layouts along with popular trade stands and demonstrations from the biggest names in the model railway world. The largest layout is over ninety feet long – more than a full sized carriage.
Michael Stokes, the Great Central Railway event organiser, said: “Our Model Railway show grows every year. With so many layouts, trade stalls, demonstrations plus our real ale bar, this will be a fantastic day out.
“We’ll have heritage steam locomotives hauling trains along our preserved main line railway and we know visitors love to hope on and off the trains to explore the exhibition.”
The layouts come from all over the country. Some represent real life locations, others completely are drawn from the imagination but all will delight modellers and families alike.
Tickets cost £20.00 including all day rail travel. On Friday and Saturday the event is open between 10am-5pm, on Sunday, 10am-4pm. The main exhibition hall and car park is situated at Quorn and Woodhouse station.
