A former contestant of Britain’s Next Top Model was crowned Miss England 2012 at a glamorous ceremony held at the Athena in Leicester last night.
It was third time luck for stunning model Charlotte Holmes, from Plymouth, who battled it out against 59 other beauties from across England to take home the coveted title.
The 23-year-old brunette will now go on to represent the country at the Miss World finals in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, on August 23, hoping to scoop the prestigious crown and top prize of $100,000.
After winning the Miss England crown, Miss Devon, whose first duty as Miss England is to fly to Mauritius to star in its Carnival and promote the Mauritius Shopping Fiesta, told Pukaar News: “For me it was my third year, but I’ve never quit, life’s too short to quit at the first try. I am proud of who I am and what I represent.”
Charlotte, who was crowned Miss England Charity queen in 2009, added: “I’d like to promote the brand. I want to raise money for charity, do something and not sit at home with video games and watch television.”
Talking about this year’s beauty queen, the managing director of Miss England, Angie Beasley, told Pukaar News: “There have been stunning girls in the competition, 60 girls could have been crowned today, but we’ve looked all over to find someone with the full package.”
Former Miss Leicester and local modelling agency ModelZed owner Kate Solomons hosted the ceremony, which saw contestants competing in four different rounds, including fitness, interviews, an eco-fashion show and an evening-wear catwalk.
Platinum-selling artist and former X-factor runner-up, Andy Abraham, delighted audiences with his intimate and soul-breaking show, performing songs from his fourth studio album “Remember… When”.
Seventeen-year-old Lena Walker, who was named as Miss Leicester 2012 in March, ranked in the top 17.
