Hounslow Desi Mela 2025: A Vibrant Celebration of Punjabi Culture and Community Spirit

People came from far and wide to enjoy this year’s two day Hounslow Desi Mela – a sun-soaked festival filled with music, dance, and community joy.

Held on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday 22 at Cranford Community College in West London, the annual festival—organised by ACAA London—is a lively celebration of South Asian culture, with a particular focus on Punjabi heritage. It also marks Refugee Week, using culture and creativity to promote unity, inclusion, and connection within the community.

Although stallholders were disappointed by Saturday’s turnout, Sunday proved to be a much greater success in terms of attendance. Thousands turned out to enjoy the festivities on offer, coming from as far as Birmingham and Leicester.

This event is about more than just entertainment,” said Darius Nasimi, one of the organisers. “It’s about promoting integration, strengthening community bonds, and giving people—especially refugees and migrants—a platform to celebrate who they are.”

The festival delivered on that promise, offering a packed line-up of Punjabi singers, traditional and contemporary dance performances, and community stalls. The entertainment drew large crowds, especially on Sunday, with thousands attending to enjoy the festive atmosphere and warm weather.

Among the standout performers was Joga Jeezy, who captivated the audience with his high-energy performance. Reflecting on the event, he said: “I enjoyed the festival. It was next level! We had good weather and the audience was crazy, so I had a brilliant experience.”

The rising star also spoke about his ongoing musical journey: “At the moment I’m working really hard. This month I released four songs and next month there are already five more ready. I’m always working to bring something fresh for the new generation.”

Jasmeen Akhtar also performed a popular set. Recently, the singer released a new song with Diljit Dosanjh for the film Sardar Ji 3.

“I am very happy to be here. Everyone has really enjoyed it. When everyone enjoys it, an artist’s day is complete,” she told Pukaar.

“Everyone here is our own, so meeting everyone was really nice. Wherever Punjabis go they are the same, they make the event special wherever they go.  I thought it was great and I was given a very warm welcome, it felt like I was in Punjab!”

While the full celebrity line-up included Baani Sandhu, Harf Cheema, G Khan, Jasmeen Akhtar, H Dhami, Lehmber Hussainpuri and Juggy D, the true heart of the Hounslow Desi Mela was its mission to bring people together—celebrating cultural pride, diversity, and unity in the heart of West London.
