To celebrate its 5th birthday, Curve theatre is calling on Leicester to dig out their childhood photos in order to create a unique Photo Mosaic, to be unveiled on Saturday 7 September at the theatre’s Birthday Open Day.
This large-scale digital art piece is set to bring the community together in celebration of Curve’s success, as well as remaining an opportunity for the theatre to show thanks to its many supporters. Curve’s Chief Executive Fiona Allan commented “Curve would not be where it is today without the incredible support we have received from the local community and this Photo Mosaic is our way of saying thank you to everyone who has seen a show, been involved in a workshop or attended one of our many events over the past 5 years.”
The Mosaic requires around 3,000 photographs from Leicestershire citizens, from when they were five years old, along with their best Curve memory or a happy birthday message. Together with images of Curve itself, technology partners Un.titled, will digitally collate the photos and reveal the interactive tribute of faces and well-wishes from across the county.
Wishing to get the entire community involved with the project, Fiona expressed her excitement at Leicester’s close interaction with the theatre, and urges people to “share their pictures and memories of Curve with us to create this special piece of interactive community art for all to enjoy this autumn.”
