A call has gone out to encourage individuals, groups and organisations to highlight their diverse activities at a Leicestershire museum.
Charnwood Museum in Loughborough, shines a spotlight on diverse and vibrant communities by way of a display case which has already been home to a wide range of exhibition materials.

Previous exhibitors – including those involved with m’Other Art, Uganda 50 and Baca Charity ‘All Together – We are Stronger’ – have all used the case in different ways to show wide-ranging stories and art inspired by their selected theme.
Portraits, sculptures, films, photography, personal objects and community engagement are just some of the mediums previous exhibitors have used.
Councillor Christine Radford, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for adults and communities, said: “The Community Spotlight Case project shows our commitment to bringing to life the different arts, culture and heritage we have right here on our doorstep.
“I have loved being able to see different exhibitions develop as part of the project and I’d like to thank all the specialist staff and curators that play a big role in turning the participants’ vision into a reality.
“I’d encourage local people, groups and communities in the Charnwood area to seize this unique opportunity to create and share something for visitors across the county to come and enjoy.”
The Cultural Participation team at Leicestershire County Council can support participants with publicity and identifying grants that can be used towards the exhibition’s development. The new exhibition is one of several projects funded by money from Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisation.
The current application process is open until 23 August 2024, with the aim for the successful exhibition to be installed from November 2024.
People can apply to use the Community Spotlight Case by completing the online application form on the Culture Leicestershire website at www.cultureleicestershire.co.uk/projects/spotlight-case/support-to-apply/.
