Pukaar News was at the Regional film Premiere of WEST IS WEST, the sequel to the internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning EAST IS EAST. The premiere was held at Cineworld on Birmingham’s Broad Street, with lots of big names in the Asian and bhangra community attending including Shin of DCS, Navin kundra and Raj Hundal to name but a few.
Om Puri (George Khan) and Aquib Khan (Sajid) were in attendance as well as Zita Satter (Neelam) and writer of both ‘East is East’ and ‘West is West’ Ayub Khan Din.
West is West takes the Khan family on a journey from Salford, England, to rural Pakistan and is the coming of age story of 15 year old Sajid and his father, 60 year old George (‘Ghengis’) Khan.
Talking to Pukaar News newcomer Aquib Khan said “I enjoyed making the film and would love to make more films in the future”.
Pukaar News spoke to Shin of DCS who said, “the film was excellent and defiantly worth going to see”.
Another cinema goer told Pukaar News that they enjoyed the film, but said they wished more of the original cast from East is East were in it.
West Is West is released in cinemas on February 25 2011.
