Stephen Sutton Remembered in Leicester Painting

Two art students from Leicester have produced an art piece inspired by the late Stephen Sutton.

Callum Sholl and Mustafa Abdulkadir were inspired by Stephen, who raised more than £4million for charity before he died last month.

They were moved by his dedication to raising funds for the charity that supported him during his battle with cancer, and immediately felt that they wanted to do ‘their bit’ using their passion for art to continue to support his legacy.

Callum said “he was an absolute lovely guy by what I have read and leant about him and also it was just an absolute honour to do a piece on him”.

Callum and Mustafa have been working with a local artist from NV Arts to produce an 8ft wide Mural which they plan to auction to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Mustafa says “Its inspiring, it makes me feel like a better person, its one of the great things about doing art, other people can appreciate it, and its just make you feel happy”.

The art piece labelled by the students as ‘When life gives you lemons’ is inspired by Stephens comment  ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, but what do you do when life gives you cancer? This is not a sob story. This is Stephen’s story’.

The art piece will be available to view as part of the young people’s exhibition on Wednesday 11th June from 12pm-3pm at Quad Studios, 78 Friday Street, Leicester, LE1 3BW.
