A spectacle that will never be forgotten as around 250,000 people lined the streets of Leicester yesterday to enjoy the open-top bus tour through the city centre in celebration of LCFC’s victory win. Proud and ecstatic fans dressed in blue congregated into the city from early afternoon to claim their rightful spots, in order to get great views of the bus as it passed through and to give the foxes a reception well deserved.
The entire city route of the parade from Jubilee square to Victoria Park was packed with spectators chanting, cheering and waving flags all wanting to be a part of the remarkable and once in a lifetime opportunity. It wasn’t just the streets where fans stood as shop windows, telephone boxes and even traffic lights were being used to catch a glimpse. The bus crept its way through the guarded route as the City players including Vardy and Mahrez and also manager Claudio Ranieri waved and took photos of their supporters amidst the sea of blue.
Music and performances geared up the fans in Victoria Park in a festival like set-up as they waited in anticipation for the team to take to the stage. Food and drink stands lined the perimeters of the park which all added to the jubilant experience. Noise levels rose as joyous fans cheered on the players as they were called one-by-one onto the stage and everyone in the park got to relive the high-lights of the team’s remarkable season on huge screens.
A surprise performance from Kasabian was the cherry on the top to end an incredible parade which united families, friends and people from afar to celebrate together Leicester’s unbelievable achievement, creating an atmosphere that will never be forgotten.
