Breaking the Silence: Parneet Kaur’s Mission to Support Women in Hidden Struggles

London-based Relationship Coach Parneet Kaur says her upbringing in Punjab, India, is the driving force behind her mission to support women who feel unable to speak up within their families and relationships.

In an interview with Pukaar News, Kaur explained why she chose to pursue relationship coaching. “Growing up, I saw things I could not understand at the time.

Once I realised the impact these patterns had on women’s lives, I knew I wanted to work in this field,” she said.

Kaur was born into a middle-class family in Punjab, where she describes her childhood as a mix of typical family experiences, shared with siblings in a small city.

She completed her schooling and earned a science degree from Punjabi University before entering an arranged marriage at the age of 20 and relocating to England.

Moving to the UK presented an entirely new environment. Kaur began working as a school assistant and later held several other jobs. Yet throughout these years, she carried unspoken observations from her early life, particularly regarding her mother.

“I grew up watching my mother work tirelessly for the family,” she said. “She looked after everyone without ever asking for anything.

She never expressed personal wishes or disagreed with anyone. As a child, I accepted this as normal and believed all Punjabi women lived this way.”

Kaur later came to understand that her mother’s silence was rooted in habit, not fear. “Women of her generation often saw self-sacrifice as part of their role.

At the time, I thought it was simply our culture.”

After raising three children of her own, Kaur began to question these inherited expectations.

She felt strongly that other women should not have to follow the same unspoken rules.

“I realised there were many women who continued to live in silence, both in Punjab and within the Punjabi community in the UK,” she said. “I decided I wanted to contribute to changing that.”

With the support of her husband and family, Kaur trained as a Relationship Reset Coach and qualified as a speaker.

Her work now focuses on helping women express their needs more openly and understand their rights within relationships.

Kaur says her goal is to challenge long-standing assumptions about what women should tolerate. “Some women still believe sacrifice is expected or culturally required. I want them to know they have a voice and the right to use it.”

She acknowledges that addressing these issues is not straightforward. However, she believes personal support and open conversation can make a significant difference. “It is not an easy journey, but I will continue working to reach the women who need it most,” she added.

Kaur hopes her work will encourage more women to step forward and speak for themselves, breaking a cycle she witnessed from childhood to adulthood.
