Leicester will host two in a series of six Myeloma Academy Roadshows taking place across the UK. The Roadshows aim to support healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and care of patients with blood cancer, myeloma.
The roadshow will be held at Leicester Marriott Hotel from 1-2 November 2017 with other events taking place in Bath and Newcastle. There are two separate full-day events from 10am to 4pm for nurses on Wednesday 1st November and for doctors on Thursday 2nd November.
Myeloma is a rare cancer that sees around 5,500 new cases diagnosed in the UK every year. Myeloma Academy supports the education and professional development of doctors and nurses treating myeloma patients. It is part of Myeloma UK, a charity that works to ensure that patients get access to the best possible treatment and care.
Myeloma UK Healthcare Professional Manager, Monica Morris said: “These interactive events cover a range of topics including myeloma research, treatment and care, and feature expert speakers and faculty.
“We launched Myeloma Academy Roadshows last year and they were a huge success, so we’re very much looking forward to bringing them to Leicester this November and meeting doctors and nurses from across the central region.”
Leicestershire Promotions supported Myeloma UK with venue finding and coordinated site visits at Leicester Marriott Hotel.
Jo Dempster, Hotel Sales Leader at Leicester Marriott Hotel said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Myeloma UK to the hotel in November after showcasing the quality and flexibility of our meeting facilities. Through a successful visit coordinated by Leicestershire Promotions, Myeloma UK was able to see first-hand the kind of space we have on offer and we’re very pleased that they chose Leicester as their preferred location.”
Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicestershire Promotions added: “We are delighted that Myeloma UK has chosen Leicestershire for one of its UK roadshow locations. We worked closely with the Leicester Marriott Hotel to put together a compelling proposal. We will continue to work with the event organisers to ensure that their delegates receive a fantastic welcome and experience a successful and productive roadshow in our city.”
